Nandivali or Naniwali

Yesterday.... a relaxing Saturday.... got an idea to wander around the picturesque Paud area. Nandivali or Naniwali is 50 kms from Pune. Reach Paud and then proceed towards Mulshi dam, after say around 15 kms we encounter a Y - junction. One goes to Tamini Ghat and another goes to Nandivali(12 kms) and from there takes you to Lonavla.

Nandivali is a very small village with a panoramic view of back waters of Mulshi dam. There is place to sit and eat but food is not available as such. So please plan your snack/food. Of-course, a tea - vadapav joint at the Y-junction is indeed a bonus.

The whole route is full of mountains, monsoon - waterfalls and a very relaxing greenery which keeps you afresh like anything.

En route, the mulshi dam's sky - view and other view points are the Value Added Services by nature :)

A perfect hang-out after a hectic week @ work....

This is yet another attraction for pune and surrounding people. Lot of water, nice mountain range, dam, Simhagad fort.... all these constitute to give a refreshing ambience. A morning visit can make your day great and an evening visit is a fitting end of the day. The sun set is also a beautiful panoramic speciality of this place.
Simhagad Road and Karve road in Pune leads to Khadakvaasla after crossing the Mumbai Bengalooru highway. Its around 10 kms from this highway.

Mahabaleshwar

Mahabaleshwar is a fantastic hill station, 110 kms from Pune. We need to travel around 40 kms towards Satara on Pune Bangalore NH - 4 and a deviation towards right takes us to Mahabaleshwar. If planning from Pune, on the way we can visit Small - Tirupati (Original Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh has been replicated in a small scale, but its beautiful). Small tirupati is 25 kms from Pune and after visiting this, we get a place called Wai on the way. Pune is surrounded by 8 Vinayaka temples; popularly known as Ashtavinayaka. Wai is one among them.
From Wai, we reach to Panchagani which is also a hill station and is famous for Paragliding. Mahabaleshwar is 13 kms from Panchagani.

If a one day trip has to be planned then it can be like this, start from Pune at around 530 am. You can reach Small tirupati by 615 am. Visit the place and then go to Wai. You can reach there by 7am. See the beautiful idol of Ganesha there and go to Panchagani. Watch out for the paragliding sports happening at tip of the hill. You can stop there for 1/2 hr. Start for Mahabaleshwar and your eyes will be busy catching the glimpse of those beautiful hill surroundings and greenary. By 11 am, you will be in Mahabaleshwar.
